August is here again

PHOTOS AND ARTICLE BY MONIKA CSAPO

In Finland August carries always something bittersweet in itself. Summer holiday starts earlier here for schoolkids compared to other parts of Europe so in mid-August kids return to school again. University starts in Mid-August as well. August means inevitably that the short but nice summer is approaching its end.

On the other hand following the same logic and turning it to reverse: August means also that we have still one month left from the summer what we could enjoy to the fullest and make the best of it. Flowers are still blooming and the weather is good enough to sit outside while eating out with friends. The open air party places are still open and you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables from the local market.

One of my favorite findings of this summer was the community garden in the middle of the nearby forest. When I returned from Copenhagen I already thought that there will be no more flowers left any more but to my surprise the gardens looked even prettier as before.
